Each year, eight billion tons of plastic are dumped into the oceans, the equivalent of a dump truck every minute. These massive quantities of plastic waste start drawing public opinion’s attention.
How do people recognise the waste issue?
Indeed, following the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, many projects have been impleted to reduce the pollution of the oceans. For example, SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is collaborating closely with Ríos Limpios to clean up and reduce the plastic pollution in Yucatán, Mexico. Ríos Limpios is an environmental conservation project and a member of the UN’s global “Clean Seas” campaign. In the six years since Ríos Limpios began, they have organized and participated in hundreds of beach clean-ups, in forests, rivers, lakes, estuaries, mangroves, mountains and cities. Rios Limpios and their collaboration with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is the key to raising awareness of the problem of marine litter and creating a single voice for the plastic pollution and the people and organizations that fight to solve it and achieve a better country for the coming generations.
At the same time, more and more companies are specializing in recycling plastic waste. Some companies, even big ones like H&M, NIKE, and Adidas, create clothes, shoes, car interiors, and even bags (you can check here our rPET bags, or we talk about it here). Imagine if only 25% of these products were made of recycled materials, they would equal a need for two billion recycled plastic bottles. In this way, we will make a significant impact on the environment.
Sapphire is one of the trusted shopping bag manufacturers in Vietnam. With the consciousness of preserving the environment for future generations, Sapphire aims to produce eco-friendly products, such as 100% recycled PP shopping bags, and rPET. In addition, we also participate in environmental-oriented organizations such as SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, which aims to raise awareness of marine environment protection.
